Internet Safety 

The Internet is an essential element in 21st century life for education, business, and social interaction. Computing skills and knowledge are vital to access life-long learning and employment; indeed, Computing is now seen as a functional, essential life-skill along with English and Mathematics. Digital Literacy is all about being safe in the online world. 

 
It is not just about the internet and the computer: in today's modern world, mobile phones, games consoles, cameras and televisions can also connect to the internet and can be dangerous if not used sensibly. Learning about e-Safety is a vital life skill. 

As a school we are committed to doing all we can to ensure the safety of the children when they use the internet at school. We teach the children the skills needed to recognise that care needs to be taken when using the internet and any information retrieved may not be factual. We endeavour to ensure that children do not access inappropriate material, learn how to behave online when using social networking sites, and also how and where to seek advice and support should anything happen which makes them feel uncomfortable. 

We work very closely with our Primary Computing Consultants Julian Hughes and Jason Cochrane to deliver regular e-Safety training for staff, pupils and parents.
